ELLE | Styled Shoot

Adriana Gonzalez, the photographer on this shoot, came to me with an idea to use bright florals to frame a beautiful face.  She didn’t give me much else direction, but instead let me take the creative lead with my pieces. I just went with it! At the time, the Elle Fanning Vogue cover had come out with her wearing a large headpiece made from nothing but blush roses.  When I saw the cover, I fell in love with the soft boldness of its aesthetic. I’d never built anything like this before, so it was really just one giant experiment in floral architecture for me. I made a foundation crown of chicken wire and stuck flowers in it, just playing around until my vision began to come to fruition. This was the final product! I like to think Adriana and I created magic that day.  Ironically enough, the lovely model’s name is Elle. Photography: Adriana Gonzalez, Makeup: The Look By Julie
